swan valley

After a satisfying lunch at Mary Street Bakery, with no time to waste, we hopped on to our next destination. It took us a long 30 mins drive from where we were to Swan Valley.

Our itinerary in Swan Valley went like this:

  1. Providore Margaret River
  2. The Margaret River Chocolate Co
  3. Ugly Duckling Winery
  4. Windarra Honey House

Our first stop was Providore Margaret River and The Margaret River Chocolate Co in Swan Valley. They are located next to each other and parking is available if you’re driving.

1. Providore Margaret River

For the love of Food and wine, this place is a gourmet paradise. Providore produces all kinds of gourmet food and wine from their very own vineyards, organic olive grove, orchard and vegetable gardens. You can find high quality jam, spices, olive oil, sauces and desserts.

My personal favourite from Providore is their Truffle oil (to die for!) and chocolate liquor (coffee flavour).

2. The Margaret River Chocolate Co

Or we called it Margaret River Chocolate Factory, of course, is a chocolate heaven. I’m not a big fan of chocolate (unless I’m stress), but I was amazed by the huge selection of chocolate they have. Not only they produce chocolate to eat, but also for your body. Body soaps, lotion, essential oil, lip balm, bath salt etc all in Cocoa flavour! This is the chance for you chocolate lovers (or addicts) to shine internally and externally as a Cocoa. Imagine your body smells like a chocolate from head to toe. Someone might eat you. Hah!

3. Ugly Duckling Winery

One of my favorite photo shooting spot is definitely a wine yard! We stopped by the next stop at Ugly Duckling Winery and found this lovely wine yard they have, at the right timing with the perfect sunlight. I would definitely enjoy a glass of White here for the view!

Ugly Duckling is a new small boutique wine yard in Swan Valley. We tasted a couple of wines on the board and our favorite is this bottle of white called “Summer Duck”. This is a light-medium bodied wine with a hint of honey and floral scent. Slightly sweetened but not a Moscato (dessert wine) kind of sweet.

I have been looking for a slightly sweetened white wine for a LONG time and now I found one. They are selling it at a reasonable price (about $20 if I remembered correctly). Unfortunately, you can’t get this from a local liquor store in the city. They do not distribute their wine just yet so you’ll have to drive all the way to Swan Valley for this.

Honestly, it’s worth it.

4. Windarra Honey House

Last, but not least, we end our adventure in Swan Valley at the Windarra Honey House. They are a lovely family running the honey business in Perth. The woman in the Honey house was so friendly and she explained the process of honey making & Bee transporting (like what?) to us. It’s interesting to know you can actually transport thousands amount of bees from one place to another, in a truck.
